The EGPL-DAY project aims to empower adolescent girls in Gram Panchayats by fostering leadership, participation, and gender-responsive governance. Focused on Ramgarh’s mining-affected regions, this initiative addresses the exclusion of young girls in decision-making, lack of leadership skills, and limited community support.
Through leadership training, active participation in Gram Sabha and Mahila Sabha, and collaboration with frontline workers, the project ensures adolescent girls have a voice in governance. The pilot phase covers 10 villages across 4 Panchayats, engaging 450 adolescents over three years. If successful, the model will be scaled to other regions.
By bridging the gap between representation and real empowerment, EGPL-DAY envisions a future where young girls lead community change, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable society.
