Never ever compare the abilities or behavior of children.

Each child is unique and comprehends things at different levels.

Keep the child on the schedule Viz: Meal, Play & studies etc.

Provide the child the same privilege and opportunity to earn special merits.

Give responsibilities or chores as per their capabilities.

Always praise the children for their individual accomplishment.

Never allow the smarter child to redicule the slower child.

Always speak encouraging (motivating) words to the children.

Early identification facilitates developmental process.

Close attention helps in identification and then proper referral to psychologist.

Teachers and parents should have empathetic understanding. And they should not resort to physical punishment.

Teachers have a special role to play in helping parents to come to terms with the fact that their child has low intellectual ability.

Normal classroom programs should also make provision for children with low intellect level.

To help slow learners some proven tips:

Have a quiet place to work where the child can be easily observed and remain motivated.

Keep the homework session short.

Provide activity times before and during the homework.

Ask questions from the children while they are working about the assignment.

Do not reward unfinished task.

Use Three Transfer Forms of learning:

Explain it to someone else.

Draw a picture of it.

Take a note on it
